Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 5, 2026
Buoy is built to work without knowing who you are. There is no Buoy account, no advertising and no third-party analytics SDK. Optional iCloud and Game Center features use your Apple Account. Buoy does not collect any data.
Your progress
Puzzle results, best scores, attempt and hint counts, rewind totals, and collected ducks are stored on your device. If iCloud is enabled on your device, the same progress is mirrored to your personal iCloud account (Apple's key-value storage) so it follows you between your iPhone and iPad. That data lives in your iCloud, is protected by your Apple Account, and is never sent to us or anyone else. Deleting the app deletes the local copy; you can clear the iCloud copy from Settings › Apple Account › iCloud.
Game Center
If you choose to sign in to Game Center, Apple provides achievements and leaderboards. That is governed by Apple's privacy policy; scores and achievements are sent to Apple, not to a server operated by us.
Custom levels you share
Levels you create in the sandbox can be shared as a code or file that you send yourself. Sharing happens through the system share sheet; nothing is uploaded to us.
Motion
Tilt levels can use the device's motion sensors while you play them, on-device only, and only if you enable tilt in Settings.
What we don't do
- No personal data collection, no advertising identifiers, no third-party SDKs.
- No purchases inside the app; Buoy is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple.
- No transmission of anything to servers operated by us — Buoy has none.
Children
Buoy is suitable for all ages and collects no information from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
